Working to develop a strong community

Canterbury has a strong commitment to the community under the Community Development Support Expenditure Scheme. This is a funding process by which the club industry supports an extensive range of community groups.

The CDSE Scheme operates through local area committees to ensure that available funding is used to its maximum benefit. Canterbury works with the Canterbury Local Area Committee, which meets regularly at Canterbury Council.

The club also supports a range of community groups at its own discretion, as well as an extensive list of sporting groups – mostly for the young – which operate in the Canterbury-Bankstown district. In all the club spends almost $1 million annually in community support.

This work ranges across the spectrum, in areas which include special education, health, disability support, domestic violence, migrant resources, crime prevention and sport.
